Africa Climate Solutions (ACS) is evidence and innovation centered scientific non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to advancing climate-resilient, environmentally sustainable, and equitable development across Africa. ACS operates to generate actionable scientific evidence that supports resilient development pathways, climate justice, and sustainable environmental management. The organization focuses on scientific research, climate analytics, data systems, innovation, climate services, and evidence-based policy support across critical sectors including agriculture, water, energy, health, infrastructure, ecosystems, governance, and climate finance.

ACS is committed to addressing Africa’s major climate and environmental challenges, including increasing climate extremes, limited observational data systems, growing climate vulnerabilities, and the need for integrated climate intelligence to support adaptation, mitigation, and Loss and Damage assessment. Through its research programs, digital innovations, and partnerships, ACS seeks to strengthen Africa’s capacity to generate, manage, and utilize climate information for policy and investment decision-making.

About the Position

The Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Manager will lead ACS’s strategic partnerships, donor engagement, institutional collaboration, and fundraising initiatives. The position is central to strengthening the organization’s financial sustainability and expanding its programmatic impact across Africa.

The Manager will identify funding opportunities, establish strategic alliances, and coordinate the development of high-quality funding proposals aligned with climate finance priorities under mechanisms such as the Green Climate Fund, Adaptation Fund, bilateral development agencies, multilateral banks, and philanthropic organizations.

The role requires strong understanding of climate finance architecture, donor priorities, proposal development processes, and partnership management. The Manager will work closely with technical teams to translate ACS’s scientific and innovation priorities into fundable and scalable initiatives.


Specific Terms of Reference include:

  • Develop and implement ACS’s resource mobilization and partnership strategy. 
  • Identify and track funding opportunities from international and regional funding mechanisms. 
  • Lead proposal development and donor engagement processes. 
  • Establish strategic partnerships with governments, research institutions, development agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector actors. 
  • Coordinate development of concept notes, technical proposals, and institutional partnership frameworks. 
  • Support climate finance readiness and investment planning initiatives. 
  • Represent ACS in donor consultations, partnership forums, and networking events. 
  • Maintain donor relations and ensure timely communication with partners. 
  • Support institutional visibility and strategic positioning efforts. 
  • Develop systems for tracking funding pipelines and partnership engagements. 

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Environmental Policy, International Relations, Climate Finance, Business Administration, or related field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor engagement, partnership development, or program management. 
  • Strong understanding of international climate finance systems and donor priorities. 
  • Proven experience in successful proposal development and grant acquisition. 
  • Excellent networking, negotiation, and communication skills. 
  • Experience working with international organizations and development partners. 
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills. 

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

  • Initial contract duration of two years, renewable based on performance and funding.
