About Us
Africa Climate Solutions (ACS) is evidence and innovation centered scientific non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to advancing climate-resilient, environmentally sustainable, and equitable development across Africa. ACS operates to generate actionable scientific evidence that supports resilient development pathways, climate justice, and sustainable environmental management. The organization focuses on scientific research, climate analytics, data systems, innovation, climate services, and evidence-based policy support across critical sectors including agriculture, water, energy, health, infrastructure, ecosystems, governance, and climate finance.
ACS is committed to addressing Africa’s major climate and environmental challenges, including increasing climate extremes, limited observational data systems, growing climate vulnerabilities, and the need for integrated climate intelligence to support adaptation, mitigation, and Loss and Damage assessment. Through its research programs, digital innovations, and partnerships, ACS seeks to strengthen Africa’s capacity to generate, manage, and utilize climate information for policy and investment decision-making.

Destined to Excellence!
Africa is experiencing increasing frequency and intensity of extreme climate events, including droughts, floods, and heatwaves, often occurring as compound and cascading risks. These hazards interact with underlying vulnerabilities—such as poverty, rapid population growth, land degradation, and weak infrastructure systems—resulting in disproportionate socio-economic impacts. Critical sectors such as agriculture, water, energy, and health are highly climate-sensitive, making development gains increasingly fragile. The lack of integrated, sector-specific risk assessments further limits the effectiveness of adaptation strategies and investment planning.
From a development perspective, a key challenge lies in the gap between scientific knowledge and policy implementation, where available research is not sufficiently translated into actionable insights for decision-makers. In addition, limited technical and institutional capacity, fragmented data systems, and insufficient climate finance readiness constrain countries’ ability to design, implement, and scale climate-resilient interventions. Addressing Loss and Damage, advancing climate justice, and ensuring equitable access to climate finance remain central challenges within global frameworks under UNFCCC.
ACS prioritizes climate change adaptation and mitigation, Loss and Damage assessment, climate justice, and environmental sustainability across key economic sectors. It operates at the interface of science, policy, and practice to support risk-informed development planning, climate finance readiness, and inclusive, data-driven decision-making aligned with global frameworks and funding mechanisms
Our Strategic Objectives
To generate, integrate, and advance robust, high-resolution scientific evidence on climate variability, change, and impacts—including adaptation, mitigation, and Loss and Damage—to support resilient, inclusive, and evidence-based development pathways across Africa.
To enhance evidence-based policymaking and planning by identifying critical knowledge gaps, developing integrated data systems and analytics, and translating complex scientific findings into actionable insights, tools, and decision-support frameworks.
To promote climate justice and equitable development by addressing disproportionate climate risks faced by vulnerable populations, supporting inclusive and participatory approaches, and strengthening the scientific basis for Loss and Damage and global climate justice frameworks.
