Africa Climate Solutions (ACS) is evidence and innovation centered scientific non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to advancing climate-resilient, environmentally sustainable, and equitable development across Africa. ACS operates to generate actionable scientific evidence that supports resilient development pathways, climate justice, and sustainable environmental management. The organization focuses on scientific research, climate analytics, data systems, innovation, climate services, and evidence-based policy support across critical sectors including agriculture, water, energy, health, infrastructure, ecosystems, governance, and climate finance.

About the Position
The Climate Change Impact Specialist will lead ACS’s work on climate impact assessment and Loss and Damage analysis across socio-economic and environmental systems. The specialist will assess both economic and non-economic impacts of climate variability and change on livelihoods, ecosystems, infrastructure, health systems, and development outcomes.
The position requires strong expertise in climate impact modeling, integrated assessment methodologies, and interdisciplinary analysis linking climate hazards to observed and projected impacts. The specialist will contribute to evidence generation for adaptation planning, climate finance, and policy support, while strengthening the scientific basis for climate-resilient development and climate justice initiatives.
The specialist will work closely with sector experts, data scientists, economists, and policymakers to develop robust and policy-relevant assessments that support national planning processes and international climate frameworks.
Specific Terms of Reference include:
- Conduct climate impact assessments across agriculture, water, energy, health, infrastructure, and ecosystems sectors.
- Assess economic and non-economic Loss and Damage associated with climate hazards.
- Develop impact attribution frameworks linking climate hazards to observed impacts.
- Apply process-based and statistical methodologies for impact analysis.
- Support development of integrated climate risk and adaptation assessments.
- Contribute to climate finance readiness and project development through evidence generation.
- Prepare scientific reports, policy briefs, and publications.
- Support development of impact indicators and vulnerability analytics systems.
- Engage stakeholders and contribute to participatory assessment processes.
- Support training and capacity development initiatives.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, Development Studies, or related field.
- Strong understanding of climate impacts, adaptation, and Loss and Damage frameworks.
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative impact assessment methodologies.
- Experience with climate and socio-economic datasets.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
